If you experience lag, delayed input registration or rubber banding, your connection latency (ping) may be high.
This issue is usually related to network routing or party settings.
Ping is the time it takes for your game to communicate with the game servers.
Low ping = faster response and smoother gameplay.
High ping = delayed actions and rubber-banding movement.
Playing in a party from another region
If you join a friend in another country, you will connect to their nearest server instead of yours.
Wi-Fi instability
Even a strong Wi-Fi signal can cause latency spikes and packet loss.
Background internet usage
Streaming, downloads, or other devices using the same network can increase ping.
VPN or network routing
VPNs and certain ISPs may route traffic through distant servers, increasing latency.
You can check what region you are connected to in Settings → General → Region →Preferred Region.
If the option selected is "Automatic", THE FINALS will automatically connect you to the best available server region based on your network connection.
However, the selected region can change if:
You join a player from another region
The party leader is in a different country
Your internet provider routes traffic through another region
You are using a VPN
Your connection is unstable
Important:
The party leader’s location determines the matchmaking region for the entire party.
If you want to improve your connection you can try:
Use a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi
Restart your router
Pause downloads or streaming on your network
Avoid using VPNs while playing
After trying these steps, restart the game before matchmaking.
If these steps did not solve your issue please read our Troubleshooting Connection Issues - PC or Troubleshooting Connection Issues – PlayStation/Xbox
THE FINALS may display warning icons during a match if your connection is unstable.
The warning icons indicate a connection issue between your system and the game servers.
If you frequently see these icons, we recommend following the connection improvement steps above and reading our Troubleshooting Connection Issues - PC or Troubleshooting Connection Issues – PlayStation/Xbox
For a detailed explanation of each warning icon, read our In-Game Warning Icons article.
