Ranked Cashout: Rank Score (RS)

Last Updated: 2026-02-16

What is Rank Score (RS)?

Rank Score (RS) is the points-based system that determines your standing in the Ranked Cashout of THE FINALS. Rank Score increases or decreases based on your performance in ranked matches:

  • Winning a match earns Rank Score.

  • Losing a match deducts Rank Score.

  • The amount gained or lost depends on your placement, your teammates' and opponents' ranks, and overall match outcome.

  • Promotion and demotion occur automatically as you cross certain Rank Score thresholds within the ranking ladder (e.g., from Silver to Gold).

Your Rank Score reflects your skill and consistency, and it’s used to match you with similarly ranked players. The highest performers appear on the global leaderboards.

Why does Rank Score get deducted?

  • End-of-Season Recalculation
At the start of a new season, Rank Score is recalculated to align with any rank-system updates and to account for changes in overall player skill.
Why it matters: Keeps leaderboards competitive and reflects the current meta.

  • Cheater Removal
When a confirmed cheater is banned, all matches they influenced are re-evaluated. Rank Score gains earned with that player may be reduced; Rank Score losses against them may be refunded.
Why it matters: Maintains competitive integrity.

  • Bug or Exploit Fixes
If an exploit was used to gain Rank Score, affected matches may be invalidated and Rank Score adjusted.
Why it matters: Ensures fair progression for everyone.

  • Match Cancellation or Server Issue
Rarely, a server crash or integrity violation can void match results. Rank Score earned in that match may be removed.
Why it matters: Prevents unfair rating swings caused by technical errors.

  • Rank Protection Thresholds
If you drop below a division floor (e.g., from Diamond to Platinum) due to heavy losses, the system may deduct additional Rank Score to place you at the correct spot in the new division.
Why it matters: Avoids “yo-yo” ranks and improves matchmaking accuracy.

How will I know if my Rank Score changed?

  • In-game notification: Most Rank Score deductions trigger an inbox message next time you launch the game.

  • Season-start banner: A summary screen explains the end-of-season recalculation.

  • Cheater impact notice: If a player you reported is banned and Rank Score is adjusted, you’ll see a message in your inbox the next time you launch the game.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I lost Rank Score overnight and didn’t get a pop-up. What happened?
Occasionally a RS adjustment is required if there has been an exploit or data error. Check the News panel in the main menu or the Patch Notes for details. If you still believe something is off, contact our support.

  • I won my Ranked Match but I lost RS, why?

In some cases, the change in RS is not related to the match you just played. It can be an adjustment from an earlier match. For example, if a player you previously played with is later confirmed and banned for cheating, the RS earned in those matches may be corrected.
When this happens, RS may be removed from all affected players to maintain competitive fairness. These adjustments help ensure that rank reflects fair play for everyone.

  • Can I appeal an Rank Score adjustment?
Yes, but only if you believe the deduction was applied in error (e.g., you suspect your match data was corrupted). Provide your Embark ID, date/time of the affected matches, and any screenshots.

  • Can I get my RS restored if there is an issue?
Yes, if there is a server issue that affects all players in a game, you can get your RS restored.

You may not get your RS restored if:
    - One of your teammates left in the middle of the game
    - You suspect someone of cheating
    - You suspect that someone might be a using smurf account
    - You experiance lag during the game
    - You have other PC related issues during the game

  • Does inactivity cause Rank Score decay?
No. Rank Score decay for inactivity is not currently implemented. Your score only changes through matches, system recalculations, or integrity adjustments.

  • Will my rewards disappear if my rank drops?
No. Seasonal rewards are based on your highest rank achieved during that season, even if Rank Score is later reduced.

  2. Report cheaters: This helps remove illegitimate Rank Score from the ecosystem.
