A matchmaking suspension is a temporary restriction that prevents you from joining new matches for a limited time.
This system exists to protect match quality for everyone playing THE FINALS.
When a player leaves a match early or repeatedly fails to participate, it negatively affects teammates and the overall experience.
The matchmaking suspension system discourages this behavior and helps keep matches fair for everyone.
You may receive a suspension if the system detects that you left or abandoned an active match.
This includes situations such as:
Leaving a match before it ends
Closing the game during a match
Alt+F4 / force-closing the game during a match
Disconnecting and not reconnecting in time
Being AFK (inactive) for an extended period
Repeatedly failing to load into a match you queued for
Our system does not evaluate intent. It only checks whether a player successfully participated in the match from start to finish.
Because of that, a suspension may still be applied if you disconnect due to something outside your control, such as a crash, an internet interruption, or a power outage.
We understand how frustrating it can be to receive a suspension when you did not intend to leave a match.
If there is a large-scale server issue that impacts many players at once, we actively review those cases and do our best to remove any suspensions caused by that disruption.
Yes, you just won’t be able to queue for matches until the matchmaking suspension timer expires.
While suspended you can still:
Launch the game
Access menus
Customize your Contestant
Browse the store
Visit the Practice Range
and much more
Why do crashes cause a matchmaking suspension?
The matchmaking system cannot reliably determine why a player left a match.
From the matchmaking systems perspective, the impact on teammates is the same whether a player quit intentionally or disconnected unintentionally.
Without this rule, players could avoid penalties by simply closing the game when a match is going bad for them and then blame it on a power outage or any of the other causes above.
Because of this, the system treats all incomplete matches the same way.
How long does the suspension last?
Suspensions are temporary and scale based on repeated occurrences. Occasional disconnects usually result in a short restriction. Repeated abandons within a short period of time will increase the duration.
The timer will always be shown in-game when trying to join a match.
Once it expires, matchmaking access is automatically restored.
Can support remove or shorten the match making suspension?
No. Our player support cannot manually remove, reduce, or bypass matchmaking suspensions.
The system applies equally to all players to ensure fairness. Submitting a support ticket will not change the timer.
What should I do if my game crashes?
If you are returned to the main menu, try to reconnect to the match.
If you are still unable to connect, we strongly recommend:
Restarting the game
Restarting your platform (Steam)
Checking your internet stability
Updating drivers (PC)
Installing the latest game updates
Repeatedly getting disconnected may lead to longer matchmaking suspensions.
If crashes continue to happened, please contact Player Support and include:
Your platform
When the crash happens
Any error messages
How can I avoid future matchmaking suspensions?
Only queue for a match if you have time to finish the whole match
Avoid "rage quitting" or leaving matches because you are losing
Avoid unstable Wi-Fi connections
Install updates before playing
Don’t queue during downloads/streaming on the same network
Make sure your system meets minimum requirements
I was not able to reconnect
THE FINALS has a reconnection window that allows you to get back into an abandoned game.
If you are unable to rejoin the match before it ends or before the reconnect timer expires, the match is still counted as abandoned and you will receive a matchmaking suspension.
Is this a ban and will this affect my account status?
No. A matchmaking suspension is not a ban and does not mean your account is in a bad state in any way.
It is only a temporary queue restriction designed to protect match quality.
I keep getting disconnected and suspended from matchmaking
If you are repeatedly disconnecting from games and receiving a matchmaking suspension, please report the issue to our player support and they can help you investigate potential technical problems.
