Last Updated: 2025-07-17

What’s considered cheating, how we detect it, and what to do if you suspect foul play

THE FINALS is meant to be fun, fair, and competitive. To protect the integrity of the game, Embark enforces strict policies against cheating. Below, you’ll find what qualifies as cheating, how bans work, and what actions you can take if you encounter a cheater.

What is considered cheating?

Any action that gives a player or group of players an unfair advantage may be considered cheating. This includes but is not limited to the following:

1. Account Misuse

  • Account selling

  • Account sharing / boosting: Playing on someone else’s behalf to rank up

2. Game-Altering Software or Behavior

  • Aimbots / Wallhacks / ESP: Automated targeting, vision through walls, and hidden info displays

  • Camera hacks: Modified viewpoints to gain visual advantages

  • Scripting / Macros / Triggerbots: Automated input execution

  • Speed hacks: Unintended movement speed increases

  • Radar or removal hacks: Altered minimaps or disappearing objects

3. Gameplay Exploits

  • Bug/Map/Item exploits: Gaining unfair advantages via unintended mechanics

  • Lag switching: Intentionally disrupting connectivity

  • Griefing: Sabotaging teammates or the match

  • Win trading: Coordinated match-fixing

4. Hardware or External Tools

  • Modded controllers

  • Unapproved third-party software

This list is not exhaustive. Embark reserves the right to take action against any behavior or tool deemed unfair.

Ban & Enforcement Policy

Why was I banned?
If your account violates our Code of Conduct or Terms of Service, you may be subject to a ban. If you believe this was done in error, contact Support.

Is a ban permanent across all Embark games?
In some cases, yes. Certain types of bans may apply to all Embark titles. More information will be shared as this policy evolves.

Is there a way to appeal a ban?
Yes. Please submit an appeal via Support with:

  • Your Embark ID (e.g., Username#1234)

  • Any information provided at the time of the ban

Reporting Cheating

How do I report a cheater?
We recommend using the in-game report system:

  1. Open the Social tab

  2. Find the player

  3. Click Report Player

If you cannot use the in-game tool, contact Support and include:

  • Cheater’s in-game name (e.g., Player#5678)

  • A detailed description of the incident

  • Screenshots or video footage (if available)

Will I be notified if action is taken?
Yes. If a player you reported is banned, you’ll receive a notification the next time you log in. No personal info or case details will be shared.

Do false reports have consequences?
No. We don’t penalize players for mistaken reports. But to keep things efficient, only report when you have a reasonable suspicion.

About Our Anti-Cheat Systems

What is EAC?
We use Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) to detect and prevent cheating.

Do you use anything besides EAC?
Yes. We run additional proprietary systems to detect cheating. These are kept confidential to protect the integrity of the system.

Can I suggest another anti-cheat tool?
Yes, feel free to share suggestions with Support. We welcome feedback, but implementation is at our discretion.

Common Questions

Can I still play if my account was used by someone else to cheat?
No. You are responsible for your account. If cheats are used, even by another person, the ban stands.

Can I transfer my items or progress to a new account?
No. Banned accounts are not eligible for item or progression transfers.

Can I request a refund if I’ve been banned?
No. Refunds are not available for accounts banned due to rule violations.

Are overlays or game assistants allowed?
Only if they do not interfere with gameplay or offer unfair advantages. If unsure, reach out to Support.

Do you offer rewards for reporting cheaters?
Not at this time. However, Embark runs a Bug Bounty Program for responsible security disclosures.

Can I use a virtual machine to play?
No. Virtual machines are not supported and may trigger anti-cheat actions.

Harassment or False Accusations

Someone is spreading rumors about me cheating. What can I do?
If it’s happening outside the game (e.g., on social media), report it to the platform involved. Embark cannot moderate off-platform interactions.

Can I report someone else’s ban on their behalf?
No. We only discuss account matters with the account owner. Exceptions may be made in rare cases with clear justification.
