Playstyles

With the launch of Season 8, we added a new feature called Playstyles.
Playstyles are designed to make it easier for players, particularly those just starting out to quickly jump into the action with ready-made loadouts. By grouping weapons, gadgets, and specializations into cohesive sets, Playstyles provide a straightforward way to experience different roles without needing to build everything from the ground up.

What are Playstyles?

Playstyles are 10 pre-built Contestant templates. Each Playstyle bundles together three core components:

  • A Specialization

  • A Weapon

  • Two Gadgets

Examples of Playstyles

Here are a few of the 10 different Playstyles you’ll find in-game:

How Playstyles Work

  • Starter Playstyles
    New players begin with three Playstyles unlocked by default. This allows you to immediately try out different roles.

  • Playstyle Token
    As part of the onboarding process, you receive a Playstyle Token early on, letting you unlock a fourth Playstyle of your choice.

  • Progressive unlocking
    Over your first 20 rounds, you earn additional Tokens until all Playstyles are unlocked.

     

Existing Players & Unlocks

If you have played before Season 8:

Any core items (Specialization / main weapon / gadgets) you already own for a given Playstyle will immediately unlock the remainder of that Playstyle’s core items.

If you do not own any of the core items for a Playstyle, you’ll need to use a Playstyle Token to unlock it.

Why Playstyles Were Added

Playstyles were introduced to:

  • Reduce complexity for new players, letting you jump directly into the action with pre-made loadouts without having to unlock individual items first and crafting your own loadout.

  • Help players better understand role types (e.g. offensive, defensive, support) via thematic templates.

  • Preserve depth and customization. Once unlocked, you’re still free to swap in items, weapons, and gadgets as you unlock more.


Tips for Using Playstyles

  • Try out different Playstyles early to see what alines with your playstyle or what type of roles you enjoy.

  • Don’t worry about “locking in” a Playstyle permanently, you can experiment and change as you unlock more content.

  • Use your Playstyle Tokens wisely to unlock ones that either help you improve or fit the modes/maps you like.
