Troubleshooting Launch or Loading Issues - PC

If you're stuck on a loading screen, experiencing a frozen or black screen when launching ARC Raiders, here are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Quick Fixes

  • Run the game as an Administrator

  • Update your Operating System

  • Reboot your system

  • Disable non-essential background processes

  • Reinstall ARC Raiders

  • Whitelist Easy Anti-Cheat in Windows Defender or your antivirus

Run the Game as Administrator

Running the game with elevated permissions can solve issues caused by limited access.

  1. Right-click the ARC Raiders shortcut.

  2. Select Properties.

  3. Go to the Compatibility tab.

  4. Check Run this program as an administrator.

  5. Click Apply, then OK.

Update Your Operating System

Outdated OS files can cause unexpected issues. Here’s how to ensure your system is up to date:

  1. Click the Windows Start button.

  2. Select the Settings icon.

  3. Navigate to Update & Security.

  4. Click Check for updates and install any available updates.

Reboot Your System

Background applications or overlays can interfere with the game. A reboot or clean boot can help eliminate these issues.

Disable Non-Essential Processes (Clean Boot)

  1. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog.

  2. Typemsconfig and press Enter.

  3. Go to the Services tab.

  4. Check Hide all Microsoft services (important).

  5. Click Disable all.

  6. Switch to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.

  7. Disable all startup items.

  8. Close Task Manager and click OK in the System Configuration window.

  9. Restart your PC.

Reinstall ARC Raiders

A clean reinstall ensures no corrupted or leftover files are affecting your launch:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps.

  2. Find and uninstall ARC Raiders

  3. Navigate to theC:\Program Files\Embark Studios folder and delete it.

  4. Press Windows Key + R, type%localappdata%, and press Enter.

  5. Delete the Embark Studios > ARC Raiders folder.
    (Only delete the whole folder if you don't have other Embark games installed.)

  6. Empty your Recycle Bin.

  7. Restart your PC.

  8. Redownload ARC Raiders

  9. Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator during installation.

Whitelist Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC)

Your antivirus or firewall may be interfering with Easy Anti-Cheat, which is required to play ARC Raiders. To prevent issues:

  1. Open your antivirus or Windows Defender settings.

  2. Add EasyAntiCheat.exe to the list of allowed/whitelisted apps.

  3. Ensure that ARC Raiders is also not being blocked.
