Troubleshooting Connection Issues – Console

Last Updated: 2026-02-12

If you are experiencing disconnects, long matchmaking times, or cannot join matches in THE FINALS, the issue is often related to your network connection or platform services.

Please follow the steps below in order.
After each step, launch the game and try connecting again.

1. Check platform service status

First make sure your console’s online service is online and working normally.

PlayStation
Check the PlayStation Network service status from your console or the PlayStation website

Xbox
Check the Xbox Network status from your console or the Xbox website

If services are unstable or offline, you may experience:

  • Login failure

  • Matchmaking errors

  • Disconnects from matches

2. Restart your console and router

Make sure to follow each step in the correct order.

Restart your console

  1. Completely close THE FINALS

  2. Turn off your console (do not use rest/sleep mode)

  3. Unplug your console for 30 seconds

  4. Restart your console and try to connect to online services

Restart your router

  1. Turn off your router

  2. Unplug your router for 30 seconds

  3. Restart your router

  4. Wait until your internet connection is fully restored

  5. Turn the console back on and try to connect to online services

3. Use a wired connection if possible

A Wi-Fi connection can be unstable. We strongly recommend connecting your console directly to your router using an Ethernet cable.
This reduces:

  • Packet loss

  • Latency spikes

  • Random disconnects

Even a strong Wi-Fi signal does not guarantee a stable connection.

4. Check your NAT Type

Your NAT Type affects your ability to connect to other players. You can check this in your console’s network settings.

Recommended NAT Types

  • Open (Xbox)

  • Type 1–2 (PlayStation)

Strict/Type 3 NAT may cause:

  • Inability to join matches

  • Failed matchmaking

  • Disconnects

  • Voice chat issues

If your NAT type is Strict/Type 3, you may need to:

  • Enable UPnP on your router

  • Restart your router

  • Contact your internet service provider

5. Avoid network interruptions

While playing THE FINALS, try to avoid activities that heavily use your internet connection, such as:

  • Downloading other games or updates

  • Streaming video in 4K

  • Large uploads or cloud backups

  • Multiple devices using the same network simultaneously

Doing this while playing can cause lag and disconnects during matches.

6. Check for game updates

Make sure THE FINALS is fully updated.

An outdated game version may fail to connect to matchmaking servers.

To check:

  • Highlight THE FINALS on your console dashboard

  • Click the options (Playstation) or menu button (Xbox)

  • Select Check for update

7. Still having issues?

If the problem continues, please contact our Support and include:

  • Your platform (PlayStation or Xbox)

  • Your region/country

  • The approximate time the issue occurred

  • Any error messages you received

This helps us investigate possible service or server issues.
