Sometimes in THE FINALS, stuttering or freezes can occur when shader compilation takes an unusually long time. This can result in poor performance, especially when loading into matches or new areas.
A potential fix for this issue is to clear your system’s shader caches.
Follow the steps below depending on your graphics card.
Make sure THE FINALS is completely closed
You must be logged into Windows with an account that has administrator privileges
Press Windows key + R to open the Run window
Enter the following and press OK:
%localappdata% File Explorer will open the Local folder.
Open the NVIDIA folder
Open the DXCache folder
Select all files inside the folder
Right-click and select Delete
If any files cannot be deleted because they are in use, skip those files
Open the AMD folder
Open the DxCache folder
Select all files and delete them
Skip any files that cannot be deleted
Go back to the Local folder
Press Alt + Up Arrow to navigate to the AppData folder
Open the LocalLow folder
Open the AMD folder
Open the DxCache folder
Select all files and delete them
Skip any files that cannot be deleted
From the Local folder, press Alt + Up Arrow to return to the AppData folder
Open the Intel folder
Open the ShaderCache folder
Select all files and delete them
Skip any files that cannot be deleted
Press Windows key + R again
Enter the following and press OK:
cleanmgr Select the drive where Windows is installed (usually C:) and press OK
In the Disk Cleanup window:
Check only the box next to DirectX Shader Cache
Uncheck all other boxes
Click OK
When prompted, click Delete Files
Start THE FINALS again.
Note: Shader preloading will take longer than usual on your first launch. This is expected and only happens once while new shaders are being rebuilt.
Clearing your shader cache can resolve stuttering, freezing, and inconsistent performance caused by corrupted or outdated shader data.
